Meatballs Script
I was able to scan the only copy of the script I have and make it available in PDF format.
This was the original script titled "Summer Camp". Keep in mind while reading it that several of the scenes never made it into the final movie cut, and several of the scenes in the final movie are not in this script!
Download the script here.
Of the scenes that never made it to the final cut of the movie is when the gang of CITs goes into town one night for some R&R to see a movie, and end up bumping into guess who? -- the camp mohawk jocks!
I won't spoil any more surprises, so go ahead and download your copy today.
1979 Promo Card
Given to movie houses, this movie card is printed on heavy card stock and has the usual promotional photo on the front in full color.
The back contains the cast of characters and technical credits. It also states: "Filmed on location at Camp White Pine, Haliburton, Ontario Canada. The producers would like to thank the town of Haliburton for their co-operation during the filming.
It also says "the characters in this film are fictional and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental." Download a high rez PDF of this card here.
Original Press Book
A very cool original Meatballs press book. I found this one in near pristine condition. This contains all of the ad/poster specs for placing the promotional ads and materials. It also contains a synopsis of the movie and some "behind the scenes" stories from filming.
You can download the entire press book as a PDF here.
Japaneese Movie Program
Interesting hard to find Meatballs program from the 1979 release in Japan. The program contains 20 pages and measures 8 1/4" x 11 3/4".
It is filled with both color as well as B&W photos. Most of the images are from the lobby cards and/or publicity stills that came from Paramount. Outside of the Meatballs logo and the names of the stars, the only English used in the program are the words "Cast" and "Staff" on page 4, the title of page 6 which reads "Are you ready?, and the title of page 16 which reads "Nice Guy, Tripper!" The rest of the program is written in Japaneese.
These programs were sold at the cinema at the time the movie was playing.
Meatballs Publicity Stills
Following are examples of four of the most popular publicity stills released from Paramount.
MB-20-14: Photo from the beginning of the film where Jerry Aldini is being interviewed by television personality Larry Solway as the ficticious program director of camp Mohawk.
MB-41-3A: Photo of the gang down by the lake. Very interesting photo as everyone is very relaxed and even a couple folks are "out of character." Look at Spaz as he seems to be taunting the camera. Also, pay attention to Candace. Even though her head is cut out of frame, she is showing off her midsection.
MB-CR-95: Photo of Tripper, Morty and several other Camp North Star team members cheering on Rudy during the annual summer camp Olympiad games.
MB-22-32A: Photo of Larry and Spaz as they get washed up and prepare for the big social/dance. This scene is cut short in the original film as they move from only a few seconds of preparation directly to the dance scene.
I obtained two of these photos with the actual post-it style notes still attached to the back of the photos that read:
