(AKA) Camp White Pine
Most of Meatballs was filmed at Camp White Pine and other locations in and around Haliburton, Ontario, Canada. This camp is still in full operation today.
Camp White Pine is located on 1,600 acres on a private lake and is a traditional residential summer camp for boys and girls aged 7 to 16. After purchasing a fishing lodge that surrounded Lake Placid, Joseph Kronick established the camp in 1956. He placed a strong emphasis on group living, a spirit of non-competition, and by allowing campers to help plan and execute their summer activities. In 1986, Joe's son Adam assumed leadership of the camp, later to be joined by his wife Dana in 1990. The camp is notable as one of Canada's best known primarily Jewish summer camps and enjoys attendance from all parts of North America, as well as Europe and South America
Activities include swimming, water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, fitness, yoga, pottery, glass, copper, arts and crafts, canoeing, tennis, ropes, landsports (including in-line hockey and a batting cage), drama, mountain biking, woodworking, guitar, mini-golf, school of rock, media arts and outdoor recreation. The camp also offeres a wide variety of overnight and day trip, including canoe trips, sail trips, biking trips, tennis tour, intercamp sports and horseback riding. Semi-annual activities include radio and music video production; both of which are conducted by staff members of Magen Boys Entertainment.
The sections at Camp White Pine are Kiwis, Koalas, Blue Dolphins, Red Dolphins, Gnus and the Training Village.
Here are some fun photos of the actual camp through the years. Please pay special attention to some of the landmarks (the lake, docks. cabins, baseball field and basketball court that were all featured in the film.)
